SUS data quality

A number of reports are available within SUS to allow providers of data to assess their own data quality. Data Quality Dashboards are also produced and made more widely available to enable providers to more easily check and improve the quality and completeness of their SUS data, and to benchmark themselves against national and regional averages.

Currently, the following Dashboards are available:

  • Data Quality Dashboards - report validity of key fields within inpatient, outpatient and A&E; data, by provider or commissioner
  • Maternity Data Quality Dashboard - reports validity of key fields in maternity data
  • Data Coverage Dashboard - reports on coverage and duplicates in SUS data, and measures submission patterns.

Although the Dashboards are primarily for use by data providers, they can inform HES users on the accuracy of the underlying data used to create HES.

The Data Quality Dashboards are available to people on the NHS network from the Connecting for Health website. Other users may request access by emailing [email protected] including contact details and reason for requiring access.
