Manual cleaning

Bespoke cleans need to be performed on HES data in addition to autocleaning. These cleans are known as 'manual cleans', to distinguish them from the automatic cleans routinely applied to all the data to ensure consistency.

Manual cleaning involves mapping obsolete provider codes, removing duplicate records, removing activity data outside the relevant date range and any other specific requests received from providers of data. More detailed information about provider code mapping and duplicate removal can be found in this section.

If a provider is aware of any manual cleans that are required to be made to their HES data, they should contact the HES Data Quality team ([email protected]) directly to request any such cleans.
