This paper examines the number of hysterectomies and endometrial ablation procedures performed annually from 1989-90 to 2004-05 to identify trends in cases of heavy menstrual bleeding.

The study found that endometrial ablation is now more common than hysterectomy for cases of heavy menstrual bleeding.
