DAAG and ECC

If you ask for an extract containing fields that are classed as sensitive in HES, or that could potentially identify a patient, then your application will need approval from the Database Monitoring Sub-Group (DMSG), formerly known as SCAG, and/or the Ethics and Confidentiality Committee (ECC), formerly known as PIAG, before we can process it.

Please note that the submission of incomplete application forms will mean that the review and approval of your request may be delayed.

The Database Monitoring Sub Group, which approved applications for sensitive data fields, was disbanded in October 2010.

Responsibility for reviewing applications for Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) has moved to the Data Access Advisory Group (DAAG) which is hosted by the NHS IC.

Details of future meeting dates and deadline dates for submission of applications to the NHS IC are given below.

Your application for DAAG approval will be facilitated by the NHS IC and should be submitted in the first instance [email protected].

Please note: If your application for HES data requires Section 251 approval, you must ensure that Section 251 is in place and current, before your application for HES data is submitted.
